Founded in 1991 by a group of good Samaritans, the House of Shalom is
a shelter for abandoned, abused and orphan children. It is situated in
the beautiful coastal town of Richards Bay, in the heart of KwaZulu
Natal (South Africa). Presently the organisation is caring for 100
children, of which 40 children are accommodated at the institution and
60 at the outreach programmes.
Their ages range
from 0 to 18 years. In 2007 alone, twenty (20) children were reunited
with their family.
In the process, this project also
tries to prepare those youngsters by giving them the necessary skills
to face life and a better future.
